Personal Description:

I'm a professional opera singer and musician having trained at the Royal Academy Music. I love teaching, sharing my knowledge and expertise and witnessing my students make progress.

In my professional career as a soloist, I’ve performed roles at the major venues including English National Opera, Linbury Studio-Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and Garsington Opera, as well as appearances in ‘Phantom of the Opera’, Lloyd-Webber's best-loved musical.

I've had the privilege of working with some of the world's finest conductors, composers and directors including Sir George Solti, Sir Charles Mackerras, Elgar Howarth, Graham Vick, Tansy Davis and Mark-Anthony Turnage.

I'm a scholar at the Britten-Pears Foundation in Aldeburgh and was a semi-finalist in the International Contemporary Opera Singers Competition in New York.

My book 'Singing Tips at your Fingertips' described by Gary Lachman (The Guardian) is "the place to find the singer within" and provides over 365 tips, one for each day of the year to help you on your journey. It's available on Amazon in paperback, Kindle and Audible.

I regularly broadcast on **Contact Detail Removed**vision and radio such as BBC World News, on the health benefits of singing and as a guest on The Paul O'Grady Show.

I have a full CRB and am on the teaching staff at the International School of London, Bishopsgate Institute and Morley College.

Tutoring Experience:

As a graduate of the RAM with over 20 years’ professional performing experience, I have an extensive knowledge of the voice and how to maximise its potential. I'm passionate about sharing my expertise and helping you reach your singing goals.

My approach is adaptable and unique. I can share with you a powerful set of vocal techniques to enable you to sing with confidence, ease and freedom.

If you want to learn a new skill, prepare for an exam or de-stress after a hard day, I can help you achieve that.

You can view the excellent feedback from my students on this website. Here are a few other comments:

"I absolutely love my one-to-one singing lessons also - the time passes always too quickly. She has a very holistic and intuitive style of teaching. Her wealth of experience as a singing teacher means she knows exactly what to do to tap into your voice and work on bringing the best out in her students. Thank you so very much Helen", Annie

"I have been attending 1:1 lessons with Helen over the past several weeks and the sessions have quickly become the highlight of my week. Helen brings her immense talent, expertise, and support to each lesson and has instilled confidence and reinvigorated my love of singing. It’s clear she cares about you as an individual and wants you to achieve your goals.", Catherine

Tutoring Approach:

The ethos of my teaching is to share my expertise and experience in a relaxed and creative environment. It gives me pleasure to pass on tips and techniques which I’ve acquired from working with some of the world’s most prestigious musicians and conductors.

I'm also able to offer other singing opportunities which include taking part in workshops, concerts and opera performances; in March 2017, I arranged for the UK premiere of The Juniper Tree by Philip Glass to take place in London incorporating children from 3 different schools in the borough of Richmond.
