Personal Description:
Hi! I am 25 years old, with a life-long musical background. I was born into a musical family, as my mother was a traditional Korean musician, and so I grew up playing music from a very early age. I started learning the piano and the violin when I was 4, and at the age of 7 I moved to London in order to continue my musical education. I was accepted into Westminster Abbey Choir School on a full music scholarship as a chorister, while continuing my piano and violin studies there. I obtained my Violin Grade 8 when I was 12 years-old. Upon graduating, I moved onto Eton College on a full music scholarship with a stronger focus on piano and violin. I completed my Piano Grade 8 when I was 15. I gradually moved towards music production, and upon graduating secondary school, I am a graduate of King's College London, where I studied Film Studies while concurrently working as a music producer, photographer and filmmaker. I am passionate about my musical roots, piano and violin, and continue my interest in them through tutoring.
Tutoring Experience:
I have a lot of experience in teaching young kids (grade 1-5) and adults (beginners)
Tutoring Approach:
I very much prefer a focused yet fun atmosphere. I consider myself a laid-back person, and I firmly believe that with a caring and stress-free attitude, a lesson that can seem like a chore can suddenly turn into a highlight of the week. For beginners, who are usually young children, I have found that instruments are closer to toys than career paths, and should be treated as such - not to devalue the instrument, but to learn how things work in a fun way. I have no interest in being a tutor who uses intimidating discipline as a way to get results - I like seeing my tutees see a challenge and tackle it as they would a puzzle - finding the pieces as they go along as I guide their way!
