Information About Heather - St. Albans teacher - (1 review)
This is how 2 referees rated Heather:
I am a freelance performer with ensembles such as the Academy of Ancient Music, the Gabrieli Consort and the English Concert. I also play jazz bass in clubs and festivals, and chamber music with various groups. I hold an MA in music from Oxford University, and two postgraduate diplomas on viola, and baroque violin, from Trinity College of Music.
I was Head of Strings at School of St Helen and St Katharine in Abingdon for 11 years, where I have taught at all levels, up to and including diploma. Since then I have taught privately, and at Wycombe Abbey school. Several of my students have gone on to pursue further study of music at university or music college. On the other hand I have had many pupils who enjoy playing but have little inclination to take exams, and I have lots of interesting and fun resources, including jazz, film music etc. I have experience conducting youth string orchestras and setting up and coaching youth chamber groups, many of which compete in national music competitions, with huge success.
I have a flexible approach, very much guided by the needs of each student. I teach adults of all standards, advanced university students, 5 year old beginners, and anything in between. I look at the technical and musical strengths and weaknesses of each client, and in discussion with each individual about his or her wishes, formulate a tailored plan for working together.
