Personal Description:

Hi, I'm Heather and I am qualified as a Primary Teacher and Secondary Maths Teacher. I'm a keen musician and play Piano and Cornet to a good standard, and have taught myself to play Violin and Flute. I also get involved with a range of sports, particularly swimming and badminton and enjoy needlework, crafts and baking.

Tutoring Experience:

As a qualified teacher, I have completed a range of school-based teaching placements. This has included placements in Secondary schools, Primary schools and also in Special Education settings. I acted as a maths mentor at my school and have supported people with their Numeracy and Literacy skills at University. I have previously acted as a coach for water polo teams, assisted with Swimming lessons and taught Piano and Cornet lessons on an individual basis. I became a Young Leader at a Brownie Unit and now train the Cadets at my local St John Ambulance Unit.

Tutoring Approach:

I would work towards what each individual wishes to achieve and can advise on suitable material where required. I believe that it is important to learn an instrument following the interests of individuals so that they can fully enjoy the experience.

From Anju (5/5): Heather has been great working with Rohan in his lead up to maths A level. He’s only had 4 months of tutoring but in that time his confidence has grown tremendously. Heather has helped with exam technique as she also marks the papers. This has proved instrumental in the build up to his final. Hopefully he will get the result he deserves.
I will be using Heather again for my daughter who is about to start her A levels in sept.

When he gets dispondent she recognises the need for him to take a break and differentiates the lesson. She is always happy to see us and keeps a positive attitude, thank you.
