Personal Description:
I'm a Music Graduate from the University of Sheffield who specialised in composition and performance.
I am a busy musician that plays in a number of bands ranging from Jazz, Latin, and Funk to Wind and Symphony Orchestras. I have a good knowledge and grounding in classical and jazz harmony due to the musical education I have received. I can help with reading music, theory, improvisation, and technique.
Tutoring Experience:
I have tutored A-level and first-year degree students in completing Bach-style harmony and chorales.
I have lectured to music undergraduates in Jazz Performance.
I have taught in primary and secondary schools as a peripatetic music teacher.
I've taught at all the south Yorkshire Music Hubs.
I currently teach a number of private students and I'm a teacher at Kirklees Guitar School.
I've had 10 years experience of teaching and 13 years of performing professionally.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tuition is for it not to be too serious!
Music is done for enjoyment, if the pupil is not enjoying themselves then neither am I. My aim will be to improve the player's musicianship and help them develop their own voice through advancing technique and musical understanding.
