Personal Description:

Following a few years teaching the clarinet, and saxophone in Cambridgeshire I extended my range of musical knowledge and performing abilities by joining the British Army in 1996 as a musician. Whilst serving in the Army for 18 years I have travelled extensively performing as principal clarinettist throughout the world. These have included many prestigious events such as in the presence of royalty in Buckingham Palace, Edinburgh Castle, and the closing ceremony of the old Wembley Stadium.

With over 30 years experience in teaching and performing throughout Europe as well as Canada, Pakistan, and North Africa, I have settled as a teacher of music within the area of Cheshire.

Tutoring Experience:

After graduating with a BA (Hons) Degree in Music from Cambridge I taught privately and within schools in Cambridgeshire for 6 years before joining the British Army as a Musician.

During my time in the Army I have been the principal clarinettist within the band where I have continually used my teaching experiences by assisting fellow musicians with technical advice and helping with any necessary music exams.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning an instrument is a challenge in itself and like a computer game I as a teacher will encourage the player to continually return for the satisfaction of reaching achievable goals as well as offering the tutee the appetite of wanting more.

But all in all music is about enjoying yourself, whether that be playing your favourite song, playing duets with your teacher or friend, playing in a group or performing a concerto in front of a mirror; the derived pleasure the only applause you possibly need.
