Personal Description:
Hi there! My name is Giorgio and I'm originally from Italy (Sicily). I spent three years in Rome studying Music at Sonus Factory where I was blessed with amazingly talented teachers and fellow musicians. Moved to London shortly after achieving the diploma.
Here I kept on studying privately whilst teaching and performing as a Guitarist, Composer and Arranger in every sort of scenario - original projects, cover bands, jam sessions, studio sessions, soundtracks etc.
I also compose, record and perform my own music and have collaborated with many artists in London, Rome and Palermo.
Along the way I've studied and mastered a variety of genres and techniques with both Electric and Acoustic Guitar that provided me with a round and steady knowledge of the instrument and music (Rock, Pop, Soul, Blues, Funk, Jazz just to mention a few).
Tutoring Experience:
I've been teaching for over 5 years now and have had students of every age and level. I've taught children in Rome at "Ciak" Kids Music School and adults privately. In London I currently have students aged 9 to 60.
Tutoring Approach:
I tend to have an easy and informal approach to lessons and always prepare carefully and accordingly to the student's level and goal.
I would normally ask you to provide me with a few songs you would like to learn and I'd pick the ones that suit your learning process best. During the the practice of songs you like I slip in a few explanations to how and why things sound good to you - that's my approach to teaching Music Theory, as it is simply an effective way to put into words what happens in sounds.
I encourage the students to have fun and reasonably question standard techniques as Guitar is an instrument rooted in rural Blues tradition and shaped by a surprisingly large number of self-taught masters who have proved Academia wrong many times in the past and still do.
