Personal Description:
George is a very easy going and understanding teacher with many years experience of playing, recording writing and teaching behind him. He has learnt at the Academy of Contemporary Music and been taught by some of the country’s leading guitarists and contributors to music such as Jamie Humphries, Jon Bishop and Tristian Seume, as well as some of the industries top musicians in their fields such as Carl Orr, Giorgio Serci, Nic Meier, Paul Francis, Nik Preston and Stu Roberts. Those that taught George have influenced his music, teaching and widened his musical scope to beyond his original tastes of blues, rock and flamenco, to the whole spectrum of genres and playing in those styles.
George’s playing has lead him to perform all over Britain and abroad, as well as play along side musicians like Pete Friesen (Alice Cooper), Paul winterhart (kula shaker) and Ace (skunk anansie).
Tutoring Experience:
George has been teaching music privately since leaving university in 2011 and has now become a music tutor at St Andrews College in Cambridge.
His experience covers a wide range of topics in the music industry such as playing, recording, theory and management, as well as many other aspects of the industry.
Tutoring Approach:
George has a relaxed and welcoming approach to music tuition, making people feel at ease and hopes they enjoy themselves and have fun as they learn. His approach to teaching theory is that it is important but won’t overload someone on their first experience of learning it. With a solid knowledge of music theory, he understands how and why things work, but has an open mind to people’s opinions on the theory side as with writing music, it’s not always a necessity, but he believes it can help with ideas progressing.
