Personal Description:

I am an experienced and versatile guitar tutor. I studied classical guitar at the Royal Welsh College and Music and Drama. I am also an accomplished electric guitarist; my main interest being in Jazz. I have performed in many venues across the UK and have taught many students of varying ages and abilities.

I started playing the guitar at primary school in my home town of Scarborough, North Yorkshire. I remained with the same teacher until the age of 18 when I went to study in Wales. During my time in Scarborough I received Grade 8 distinction and also obtained Grade 5 music theory. I played with the guitar ensembles of the local music service, first the junior and ensemble and then graduating to the senior group where I was really able to develop my group-playing skills. During this time, I also played with the National Youth Guitar Ensemble, which has some of the country's finest young players and some big names (Gerald Garcia and Gary Ryan in particular) as conductors. I also studied GCSE and A level music, receiving qualifications in both.

I spent four years at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, studying music and specifically focusing on developing as a performer. I received top rate tuition from John Mills, Stephen Gordon, Eleftheria Kotzia and Graham Devine, and played in masterclasses with multiple renowned guitarists, including John Williams. I also used this time to develop his skills in arranging, composing and studied Jazz guitar.

After leaving music college, I taught at a Cardiff guitar school and did lots of gigs around Cardiff, both solo and with a trumpeter. I continue to pursue performing and teaching and develop my musicianship and musical skills.

I am now based in Manchester and continue to teach and play.
