Information About Gavin - Edinburgh teacher

Personal Description:

I am an experienced musician who has played in many bands since the age of 14 (currently playing in the band Hot Tin Roof) and write music for film and **Contact Detail Removed**vision. I have been teaching guitar occasionally for 15 years, part time for the last 3 years and hope to make this my full time job. I teach acoustic and electric guitar to children and adults. I hold a basic disclosure. I can teach many styles including folk, country, jazz, classical, blues, rock and pop. I usually teach following the Trinity Rock and Pop syllabus, that allows to develop playing skills while learning real songs.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught people of all ages on and off for the last 15 years and now I hope to make it a full time job.

Tutoring Approach:

The lessons will be relaxed and informal. I can teach you but ultimately it is up to the student to practice as much as possible to become a better guitarist. I understand that some people have more time than others so I bear that in mind when teaching and try to give students a programme that will work for them. I often find that the main setback for people is that their hands need to adapt to playing the guitar so a lot of the initial work goes into more practical work and learning songs and chords. The theory can be explained later once the student has learned the basic chords and a few songs.
