Personal Description:
I have been playing the flute since the age of 13 (a long time ago!) and I hold the Grade 8 certificate with Honours, since 2001.
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught flute both in the UK and in Japan. I have guided several students through their music examinations, achieving many successful results. I take a strategic approach to make sure students can satisfy the requirements of the exam and feel confident on the day.
Tutoring Approach:
I enjoy teaching, and I know that everyone learns in a different way. I hope that I am always patient and encouraging. Learning can't take place if the learner feels forced or doesn't feel able to ask questions. Learning should always be enjoyable.

He is a knowledgeable teacher and very patient. I'm not afraid of making mistakes, so Gary corrects the mistakes and makes me improved every time. I have no pressure and make progress very quickly.

I'm starting from scratch to learn how to play flute and he is really clear at explaining, patient and really helpful when I have needed to buy any musical accessories. He is a really pleasant, with loads of knowledge person and every week I look forward my flute lesson.

From Dominick (/5): I have always wanted to learn Japanese but due to my dyslexia I struggled to teach myself. Gary has been a great help in explaining things, making it easier for me to understand. He is knowledgeable and friendly, he has helped me learn not only the language but parts of the culture as well. I would highly recommend him to anyone beginning to learn the language or someone who just wants to refresh their knowledge.

From Amanda (/5): Gary came to the rescue to tutor to our son in the weeks before the retake of his GCSE English exam. And our son enjoyed working with Gary very much. Gary's approach was strategic and he was quick to identify our son's strengths and concerns and to provide materials and tasks to address those concerns. We know that our son was far more confident walking in to this exam and that is entirely thanks to Gary's thoughtful support.
We think that Gary has been such a good tutor that we won't need his help again - but would recommend him without reservation!

He's been able to accommodate my regularly changing schedule and has provided excellent advice on reading materials and textbooks.
