Personal Description:

Francis started his musical career when, at the age of seven, he was awarded a scholarship to Westminster Cathedral Choir School. Coached by James O'Donnell, he recorded multiple Gramophone award-winning albums as a chorister, toured extensively to Europe and was also interviewed on Radio 4's Midweek Choice.

He went on to be awarded a top scholarship to Eton College where he learned to conduct under the guidance of Ralph Allwood, culminating in his co-direction of the album Christmas Music from Eton College. He also frequently recorded with the King's Consort and was selected as one of two soloists to perform for a **Contact Detail Removed**vised concert of Yehudi Menuhin's 80th birthday celebration at the Royal Albert Hall.

Since graduating with a first-class degree in music at Durham and Bath Spa University, he has played in concert with Hayley Westenra, Aled Jones and Rhydian Roberts as well as conducted The Bath Chorus with the Central Band of the Royal Air Force in a fundraising concert for Help for Heroes at Bath Abbey. He has also accompanied for the International Guitar Festival and acted as repetiteur for Bath Opera and the Devizes, Chippenham and Bath Light Operatic Groups in productions of The Pajama Game, Sweeney Todd, The Jewels of the Madonna and Massenet's Cendrillon.

In 2011, he founded the award-winning chamber choir, Noctis, who appeared on Cathal Smyth's (former singer and songwriter of 80s ska band, Madness) debut album, A Comfortable Man and is also the musical director of the principal choir and chamber choir at Bath Spa University, where he is an associa**Contact Detail Removed**cturer in musical theatre and opera performance. He also works as an examiner for ABRSM and is a member of the Association of British Choral Directors.

Recent projects have included workshops with Sir Karl Jenkins, Will Todd and Ben Parry, tours to the Czech Republic, Italy and the United States, the latter culminating in Lucis' Carnegie Hall debut, and a collaborative project with Bath Philharmonia for a performance of Belshazzar's Feast, commemorating the life of renowned British baritone, John Shirley-Quirk. In 2016, Lucis were invited by Grammy award-winning composer, Christopher Tin, to take part in a concert of his music at the Cadogan Hall, featuring the Angel City Chorale, Prima Vocal Ensemble and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
