Personal Description:

"ONLINE TUITON ARE NOW PROVIDED"

I am an energetic and enthusiastic person and engage very well with the children and young people (I have an up-to-date CRB check/DBS certificate). I have achieved the ABRSM grade 8 in piano and grade 6 in theory of music. In addition, I have completed a Piano Diploma at the Conservatoire “Arturo Toscanini” in Ribera, Italy. I am a qualified piano teacher. I attended several courses of piano pedagogy in Rome and music tutor training in London.

Tutoring Experience:

I have 6 years experience of teaching piano to children and adults at all levels, preparing students for national examinations (Trinity and ABRSM) from initial to grade 8. I worked as a classical pianist and traditional music performer during my music studies at the Conservatoire and University. Also, thanks to the Every Child a Musician (ECaM) local music tutor programme organized by the Borough of Newham in London, I was able to work as teacher assistant at "Roman Road" primary school in Newham. Currently, I am a PhD tutor working in different high schools in North London (I have an up-to-date CRB check/DBS certificate).

Tutoring Approach:

I have opted to take some Pedagogy courses: these courses helped me to understand different piano methodologies such as Orff, Alfred, Suzuki, Kòdaly etc, that provide musical notions as well as repertoires at different stages of learning. Some of these piano methods use colorful notations and playful musical themes that give children an attractive visual approach to the musical learning process.

My strength in IT skills enable me to make a creative use of colour and graphics to enhance the presentation of the songs in order to make children immediately interested and keen to learn new pieces of music. At the end of the lesson each child has the opportunity to perform to demonstrate what they had learnt during the lesson. I also give them some feedback in order to improve their learning by using different strategies such as playing myself. I also request feedback from the children. They usually like my lessons. For example, one child said that learning a new songs using colours was a fun way of learning.

My lessons are tailored according to the students' age, needs (playing for examination or hobby, for example), and background. I provide a gradual preparation for the exams and I tailor the programme for the exam according to the students' preferences of pieces and their technical abilities.

I believe that my skills and experiences enable me to provide music tuition to children and young people giving them the opportunity to develop musical skills that are very important to stimulates their creativity and, for the youngest, build musical meaning in order to express themselves through the imagination of music.
