Personal Description:
I am an experienced folk fiddler and perennial Irish session musician and now have space to fit in a few more private students. I lived in Ireland for 7 years and have played with some of the top musicians on the scene. I also have a BA in Music and have studied for a PGCE.
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught privately for the past 30 years and now regularly teach weekly Irish music workshops. I have also taught music in secondary schools.
Tutoring Approach:
Learn traditional tunes by ear or using sheet music; I'll help you improve your ear and work on bowing, rhythm, ornamentation etc. to give you that lift in your playing.

FrancesFrom Seán (5/5): Very friendly and very confident in her teaching. I found that sitting with her, very relaxing and any anxiety about performance disappeared .
Harriett ( /5): I love my lessons with Frances, she’s definitely got the knack of teaching in just the right way for my brain, and also teaching with a really encouraging attitude :-) I can’t wait for my next lesson
From Lucy ( /5): Lessons with Frances are relaxing, motivating and interesting. She really knows about Irish folk and is enthusiatic about sharing her knowledge- she's great.
From Sarah ( /5): Frances is a fantastic teacher and has reignited my passion for playing the violin. She comes highly recommended from me!
From Reply from: Frances: Thanks Sarah.
Josie ( /5): I first got in touch with Frances at the end of July and since then I have enjoyed every second of every lesson. Her lessons are fun and intuitive and I feel that I am making a lot of progress learning to play Irish music. I travel just over 30 miles to have my lesson and it’s well worth the distance.
Frances makes it easy to get into the rhythm by tapping her feet and finding patterns in sounds so that when I am not playing I can think about jigs, polkas and reels without having my fiddle with me. I’ve even started skipping instead of walking (when nobody is around!).
If you want to enjoy playing your instrument while making progress at the same time then I wholeheartedly recommend Frances.
