Personal Description:

I have been a musician, and violin teacher, all of my professional life. I began my career in symphony orchestras, but moved steadily into teaching, which is now the focus of my career. I have a music degree (B.Mus. Hons in violin performance), a psychology degree, and TESOL diploma. I am married, with 5 step children, and 5 lovely grandchildren. 2 are professional musicians, and 5 are learning to play! I also teach piano, viola, theory.

Tutoring Experience:

2003-current: Head of Strings, Canford School. Responsible for all violin and viola pupils and some theory tuition.
2018-current: Violin teacher, Coda Fiddle Orchestra.
1999-2003: Violin teacher, Ringwood Comprehensive, Moyles Court, Kings' Park Primary School. Violinist for Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and part of the Education Team.
1992-1999: Violin teacher, Scotch College and Methodist Ladies College, whilst violinist with West Australian Symphony Orchestra.
1991: Violin teacher, St Peter Chanel School, Queensland, Australia

Tutoring Approach:

I am a flexible teacher; I teach ABRSM and Trinity, and am also happy to teach non-exam pupils, who are playing for enjoyment and expression. I like to work with pupils, to inspire them to find the right approach. I currently work with pupils from beginner to diploma standard, with several international pupils on Skype or Zoom.
