Personal Description:
I have a Masters Degree in Performance (oboe) from the Guildhall School and an Undergraduate Degree from Birmingham University. I have an ABRSM Diploma in Recorder performance and am also an experienced pianist (ABRSM Grade 8) who is happy to accompany students up to Grade 7/8 level for instrumental exams and performances.
Tutoring Experience:
I am experienced at teaching students of all ages, from Primary school to adult level. I am currently a Primary School Head of Music and have also taught individual students and ensembles at Secondary level for many years as well as tutoring for adult ensemble programmes.
Tutoring Approach:
I have a holistic approach to teaching, tailoring my teaching for each student to their individual needs and musical aims. I expect students to practice in preparation for lessons, and for younger students will give advice for parents on how best to support practice as well as guidance for students on how to get the most out of their practice at home. If students wish to take exams I will support them in preparation for ABRSM or Trinity ealxamination preparation and will also encourage students to prepare for performance opportunities which are appropriate for them.
