Personal Description:

I am a professional, award-winning composer having worked with professional ensembles such as the BBC Singers and having written for orchestras and chamber musicians, as well as music for film, games and dance.

Tutoring Experience:

My lessons in Music Theory follow the ABRSM textbooks that allow you to solidify your theory knowledge and understanding of music. Composition lessons are very practical and hands on and give you the experience and knowledge with how to write for instruments and how to develop the dimensions of your music; harmony, structure and melodic development.

My prices are as follows:

Music Theory: 30 mins. = £16 // 60 mins. = £26
Composition: 30 mins. = £20 // 60 mins. = £36

Music Theory:

I teach using the ABRSM workbooks and textbooks. Through these I can help solidify your understanding of theory allowing you to read and understand notated music much more efficiently.

I teach up to Grade 8 level (advanced).

Composition:

Composition lessons will often be led by what you want to learn or explore as a composer. For example we can examine the work of a certain composer or piece of music; learn about the techniques of writing for string instruments, study harmonic development, look at film or game scores etc. I also prepare materials and tasks that help you develop your composition ability such as giving you the task of writing an accompaniment to a instrument, or developing a piano theme into an orchestral one.
