Information About Emma - Troon teacher

Personal Description:

Emma began to play violin at the age of four, subsequently attending the RCS Junior Conservatoire and St Mary’s Music School until 2018. She then completed undergraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music under the guidance of SoOck Kim and Ying Xue, and completed postgraduate studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under Andrea Gajic. She has received masterclasses from teachers including Simon Fischer, Nicola Benedetti and Natasha Boyarsky and has performed with Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Scottish Ballet Orchestra.

Tutoring Experience:

I worked as an ambassador for the Benedetti Foundation from 2019-2023, assisting a large number of online and in person instrumental workshops for a variety of different ages and levels across the UK. I have completed further outreach work in primary schools connected to Leeds Music Service and the Open Academy scheme at RAM. I have experience in private teaching and am dedicated to helping beginner and developing violinists grow and improve their playing.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to establish secure technical foundations through various methods and approaches, in order to find the greatest possible comfort, ease and enjoyment of playing. I hope to combine this with exploration of a wide range of repertoire, depending on the student’s interests, and help to cultivate a sense of enjoyment, creative spark and confidence whilst practising and performing. I am happy to work towards exams, auditions or any performances. Lessons will typically last 45 minutes or 1 hour, depending on request.
