This is how a referee rated Emma:
I've been a huge fan of music all my life, and I've been fortunate enough to pursue my passion as my career. I'm enthusiastic and don't mind if people are interested in Music for exams or just for their own personal pleasure, my aim is to help people enjoy music as much as possible and fulfil their potential. I personally am a classically trained pianist, but I love boogie and blues styles. I have a huge music collection and love drawing on all different genres of music to create new versions of songs and pieces.
I first started teaching when I was 15, doing a bit of work experiance, I've been teaching since then, mainly focusing on the earlier levels of piano, and I'm working towards a full teaching Diploma which I should achieve very soon :-) Until then, I need to continue teaching as it's part of the course!
I love my job, and as such my lessons do not tend to be very formal, though that doesn't mean you won't work hard! I like taking a different approach to teaching, that gets people to think for themselves rather then just doing as I tell them. I like people not just to be able to play well, but to think about music and get a real understanding of it. My teaching aims to help and encourage people to do this.
Although I adore classical piano, I understand that it's not for everyone, and so anything that you may want to play, I'm more then happy to teach, and I usually encourage people to try playing different styles of music to see what they enjoy playing.
