Personal Description:

I am incredibly passionate about most things musical and can usually be found attending live concerts, learning how to use gear in my home studio, creating tutorials for youtube, raving about my favourite artists on Facebook or working out a new song. I occasionally play at open mics and sometimes I even get to write and record things, by myself or with other people.

Tutoring Experience:

In the last 10 years I have delivered formal and non-formal music sessions in schools, youth centres and community venues. This has included devising, supporting and leading a multitude of music and music technology projects for organisations such as Artforms,YMCA and the WEA. I have worked with people who have a huge variety of learning needs, including SLD and PMLD.

During the last 8 years I have been delivering 1 to 1 tuition in guitar, keyboards, drums, theory and music tech, under my own name and for Prima Volta Mobile Music Tuition. I currently teach clients online and I teach online guitar groups for Artforms. I have recently started a job in a secondary school teaching guitar, keys and drums to small groups.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a variety of approaches depending on setting, numbers, age, ability and learning style. Approaches include kinaesthetic, holistic style workshopping and more formal, differentiated theoretical learning. I like to use tech, singing, circle games, Youtube and apps to engage students with learning all aspects of music.

I love teaching 1 to 1 and often go the extra mile for my students. For example… being flexible with arrangements, learning songs they like, lending books and sometimes instruments and sending lesson resources and writeups via text and email.
