Personal Description:

Hi I'm Emily, a music tutor based in Glasgow Southside - I travel to your home. I offer music tuition in students' homes in G53 and neighbouring areas, saving you travel time and expense. I have the DipABRSM diploma (distinction) in instrumental teaching (flute).
I teach flute and recorder from complete beginners to the advanced grades. I also teach piano from absolute beginners to around grade 4. I teach music theory up to grade 5 and aural up to grade 8. My rates are competitive and include travel to your home.
I have enjoyed playing musical instruments for as long as I can remember and have 35 years playing experience. When I was younger I played clarinet and bass clarinet in my county youth orchestra and I was leader of my county concert band. I enjoy composition - both writing original music and arranging music for various instruments. I have recently had an original work for flute ensemble published and have also written several pieces for solo piano.

Tutoring Experience:

Music is my passion and I have changed my career path to pursue what I love! I have now built up a busy music tutoring business. I teach a range of flute and piano students of varying age and ability and I enjoy tailoring my lessons to the individual student's needs.
My qualifications include:
- dipABRSM diploma (distinction) in instrumental teaching (flute)
- ARSM diploma in flute performance
- ABRSM grade 8 distinction flute
- ABRSM grade 8 distinction recorder
- ABRSM grade 8 in piano and clarinet
- ABRSM grade 6 music theory
I also have two degrees from the University of Glasgow (BSc Hons and MBChB Hons) and worked in a professional role prior to becoming a music tutor. I have studied anatomy, physiology and psychology as well as child development. I am also a Mum myself so have experience with children. I am a member of the Disclosure Scotland PVG scheme.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a kind and patient individual with excellent communication and organisational skills. My priority is to make you feel at ease and that you enjoy your lessons!
Lessons can be purely for fun and/or to work towards music exams through ABRSM (all instruments) or Rockschool (piano). Lessons are tailor made to the individual student and can incorporate a wide range of musical styles as well as learning theory, improvisation and aural skills.
Prices are:
£17.50 for 30 min
£24 for 45 min
£30.50 for 60 min
Note this price includes me travelling to your home
