Personal Description:

I am an experienced, friendly and enthusiastic teacher offering private tuition on both flute & piano as well as lessons in music theory to students of all abilities and ages. Whether you want specialist support to work towards the highest level and achieve great exam results, or just want to play for fun, I would love to help!

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching private students of all ages and abilities flute, piano and music theory for over seven years. For the past three years I have also been a peripatetic flute and piano teacher at the International School of the Gothenburg Region, as well as a peripatetic piano and 'We Make Music' teacher at the English School of Gothenburg.

I am currently Teacher of Flute at the Royal Hospital School, Holbrook, and am based in Cambridge, looking to take on new students in the area or online!

Tutoring Approach:

Giving children the opportunity to learn and engage with music is a high priority of mine. Whilst in Gothenburg I have been teaching at The English School and the International School of the Gothenburg Regions (ISGR), who cater for children who have relocated to Sweden from all over the world, giving me an invaluable insight into different cultures and ways of learning. I have found it incredibly rewarding to bring children together through the love of music, even when they have just arrived in a new country with little or no knowledge of the language. Every child can benefit so much from access to music lessons and my ability to adapt and flexible personality ensure that I can tailor my lessons to suit each pupil's needs.

As a professional flautist I can offer the highest level of flute tuition, development of technique and musicality, as well as a lot of enthusiasm for the instrument! Whether you are a complete beginner or already playing, I would love to help you develop further, working towards concert performances, exams, or just purely playing for fun.

I completed my DipABRSM performance diploma on piano in 2013 and studied piano for two years at the University of Birmingham with Agnieszka Pluta and thoroughly enjoy passing this knowledge and a love of piano playing onto my students. I believe in a strong grounding of technique enabling my students to gain independence early on, feeling confident reading music and performing a wide range of different styles.

A strong grasp of music theory is important from the very beginning of learning an instrument. Whether you are looking for short term help to boost performance in GCSE, A Level or ABRSM/Trinity exams, or would like regular lessons to gain more confidence reading music, learning scales and improving aural skills I would love to help!
