Personal Description:

I am a freelance flautist, teacher and community musician in South East London. I am available to teach individual flute, saxophone and music theory lessons.

I am originally from Manchester and I graduated with Distinction in my MMus Orchestral Performance degree at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where I studied with Jonathan Burgess, John Hall and Lindsey Ellis. Previously, I graduated from Durham University with a First-Class Honours degree in Music in 2018. During my undergraduate degree, I studied with Eilidh Gillespie and taught at the Sage Gateshead as a Flute Tutor on their Step-Up Strings Programme, one of the Young Musicians' Programmes, alongside members of the Royal Northern Sinfonia. After graduating, I worked at Wells Cathedral School as a Graduate Music Assistant and the schools’ Orchestra Manager and was taught by Sarah Newbold. I regularly work with the Aulus Duo to present Project Bottled in primary schools.

Tutoring Experience:

I am currently a Flute Tutor at Wandsworth Music & Bristol Beacon where I teach beginner-advanced flute students. I previously taught at Making Music, Changing Lives and Cardiff and Vake Music Service and led beginner whole class projects for Gwent Music in South Wales. In my previous role as a Graduate Music Assistant at Wells Cathedral School, I coached younger flute students on a weekly basis in order to help them build their ensemble skills to perform in termly concerts. I also conducted the Sinfonietta orchestra and taught ABRSM and TCL theory and aural classes. Prior to this post, I was employed at the Sage, Gateshead on their Young Musicians Programme where I prepared beginner flute pupils on an individual basis to enable them to take their practical exams and improve their technique and musicianship.

Tutoring Approach:

I am able to offer individual lessons tailored to your child's needs and work to not only give children the experience of practical exams but improve their musicianship and ensure they enjoy all that they do with their instrument. I also aim to help students develop an awareness of theory and harmony throughout instrumental lessons to provide more rounded tuition.
