Personal Description:

My name is Elisabeth and I am a teacher and musician who loves performing, composing and transmitting to others the wonderful world of music.

Born near Barcelona, I started my music education as a child in the music school of my native town. At age fourteen, I was admitted to the Conservatoire of Music of the Liceu (Barcelona). After extensive travelling as a teenager to attend music courses and master classes around Europe, I began lessons at the Royal College of Music (London). Subsequently, I also achieved an Honours Degree in Music from the Royal Holloway University of London, an Honours Degree in Humanities specialising in History, a Diploma in Music (Open) and I became an Associate of the Trinity College of Music in Vocal Recital (ATCL).

Parallel to my performance and academic studies, my passion for teaching was strong from a tender age and by age twelve, I was already assisting teachers at my local music school. At age sixteen, I became a professional teacher in the music school ‘El Tram’, at the same time that I was accepted as a Teacher's Assistant at the Conservatoire of the Liceu. A year later, I became the youngest teacher in the Conservatoire. From there, I started to train as a teacher in Spain, France and Italy where I graduated from a three-year training course in Music Pedagogy, in Italy, in Edgar Willem’s Pedagogy. I also trained in Jacques Dalcroze’s Methodology and knowledge of Kodaly.

Despite having more than fifteen years of teaching experience, I continue my professional development as a teacher, attending regular seminars, courses and workshops. I also perform regularly in solo and chamber concerts in Spain and the UK.

My passion for the musical world extends also towards other fields like academic research, composition and conducting. I have participated in several courses on choral conducting with Maestro Manuel Cabero and orchestral conducting with Maestro George Hurst (Canford), Maestros Salvador Mas and Jörg Bierhance (Vienna), Peter Stark and Lev Parikian (London).

After working in music schools and in the Conservatoire in Barcelona, I arrived in London and started to work as an external music teacher in schools. However, I soon realised that the quality of education, in terms of time, personal attention and systems wasn’t as deep and rounded as I thought it ought to be. Therefore, I set up a private music studio. This has since become known as The Beethoven Music School with the aim of providing a rounded musical education to its students.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching for eighteen years in music schools, conservatoires, general schools, private studios and privately.

I am extensively trained and have a lot of experience to teach young children (from 3 years old). I love help advanced students to become amazing musicians and to help them win competitions and enter in music colleges or gain scholarships.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to provide a coherent, complete and enjoyable music education to infants, children, youngsters and adults who wish to learn, share and enjoy the beautiful art of music. I believe that music has to be experienced in its fullness and through its differen**Contact Detail Removed**ments in order to feel the real power of this wonderful medium of artistic expression.

My students have group MUSICIANSHIP classes where they learn to read and write music, aural, solfeggio, harmony, music history, singing, choir singing, percussion instruments, composition, etc. and INDIVIDUAL INSTRUMENTAL LESSONS where they learn to play an instrument (piano, singing or violin)

I teach children from 3 years old.

I prepare students for ABRSM and Trinity College of Music Instrumental and Theory Examinations, for GCSE Music, A Level Music and 11+ and 13+ music entrance exams.

I try to give students the chance to play in public as much as possible. All my students perform at our CHRISTMAS CONCERT and SUMMER CONCERT and I also prepare and encourage them to participate in Music Festivals/Competitions around London and at the ISM West London Pupil's Concert every year.

Experiencing the differen**Contact Detail Removed**ments of music gives students a broader, deeper education, a broader, deeper development and consequently, a higher motivation and love for music.

To start an instrument is a wonderful moment for any person, either child or adult, and it is the right moment to help the young beginner to love and value the instrument he/she is playing; to show to him/her the fantastic resource he/she has in the hands and overall to make him/her enjoy music and the way to express it through his/her chosen instrument.

Instrumental lessons are normally once a week. The length of the lesson ranges between 15min to 1h depending on the age/level of the student.

I believe that is very important to be able to understand music from its deepness. Learning theory and harmony (analysis, counterpoint… ) helps us enjoy music more, either through playing an instrument or listening to it. Furthermore, these subjects can be taught and explained in a serious but pleasant way: let’s be amused by the wonderful world and language of music!

I love to express and transmit my knowledge and passion for music to even the younger ones; to give everyone the resources to develop their skills and their love for this precious art forms.

I prepare students for ABRSM and Trinity Theory Examinations.

Students are encouraged from a young age to compose, hence using music as a subjective medium of expression that will accompany them for the rest of their lives. It is important not to just perform music by the great composers, but to improvise and compose your own music, to see music as a medium, a tool to channel, communicate and express your feelings and thoughts.

I don't like to call our lessons 'music theory' but musicianship classes as in them I try to include elements of music that we feel essential for the education and development of a young musician.
