A versatile vocalist and tutor of music, specialising in jazz and improvisation. As well as jazz music, sings a wide variety of genres, including soul, R&B, gospel, pop and funk music. Hard working, creative and intelligent musician, eager to develop and embrace new experiences. Have always been surrounded by music, learning to play the piano and singing at a very early age. Currently pursuing BMus studies with a scholarship at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, studying with Brigitte Beraha, Gareth Lockrane, Sara Colman and Tina May. Graduated with a first class diploma in Jazz Music from the Latvian National School of Arts and in Piano Playing from Jelgava Music School. Alongside being a professional singer, I am a proficient pianist, having performed at competitions and numerous classical music concerts.
Have participated in a number of music festivals and contests both within United Kingdom, Latvia and outside, such as ‘Saulkrasti Jazz’, ‘Venstpils Groove’, ‘Berga Bazars Summer Festival’, and ‘Dziesmu Putenis’, in which was the grand prix winner. Also partook in the jazz music festival ‘Visioon’ in Tallin, Estonia. sung with the ‘JVLMA Big band’.
A confident and understanding educator, respecting students and treating them as unique individuals. An exemplary tutor for young musicians. Confident in vocal and piano playing tuition, focusing on developing technique, repertoire and good understanding of music theory. Have worked with various age groups in a variety of settings including one-to-one, group and choir.
My teaching method is to focus on developing a healthy technique, appropriate repertoire and a good understanding of music theory. At the same time, I am encouraging my students to find their own voice in music. I always focus on keeping my lessons fun and my students interested. I am patient and caring in my approach and try to always support my students making the environment in the class friendly and open. I feel confident in teaching both face-to-face and in an online setting.
