Personal Description:
Hi there! I'm Eleanor. I have over 10 years teaching experience. I love to perform, compose and produce music. I teach in-person & online and my students have 100% exam pass rate with Merit/Distinction. All ages and abilities welcome. Looking forward to hearing from you!
Tutoring Experience:
I offer lessons privately at my home and I teach vocal lessons in schools across Newcastle and North Tyneside. Prior to moving to Newcastle I taught for Kirklees Music Service for 5 years and sung in the famous Huddersfield Choral Society. I've also mentored A-Level Composition students and delivered many creative sound workshops involving home recording, homemade percussion, drawing sound and improvisation.

Tutoring Approach:
I enjoy an open and varied approach to teaching, exploring the student's potential through a range of styles and techniques to ensure a well-rounded musical education. I offer opportunities to compose music as well as perform a range of classical, musical theatre, popular, folk, jazz and rock styles. In addition to demonstrating and teaching technique, I offer discussion around the context of repertoire and style. For popular styles, I encourage exploration of the individual voice/expression - we all have our own unique instrument! :-)

It always takes a bit of rescheduling to accommodate a new pupil, and I allow several days for the first payment to come through, so I rarely book a first lesson in the same week as the original request. The start date I proposed to you was two weeks away from the date of your request as this is my next available slot at a particularly busy time of year. If you check our original messages, you should be able to see that I proposed this date right away, in my second message to you, and you replied positively and went on to purchase my details.
As far as the text messaging is concerned, I did ask that you email me when you received my details, as I prefer to send my lesson policy and payment details over by email. I was about to start work when you first texted me, and I was still teaching when you sent me a follow up text. I'm afraid I can't reply to text messages when I'm teaching and I did mention that I work weekday evenings.
I was under the impression that we had agreed the start date and that the time I suggested in my penultimate First Tutors' message was ok for you. It was these two details that I reiterated in my text message reply to you as soon as I finished work last evening, to which you did not respond until I received this review.
I would appreciate if you could take another look over our message exchange and contact First Tutors about any messages that may have been partially removed on your end of their messaging system. It's possible that some of our messages didn't get through, hence the misunderstanding. Best wishes, Eleanor
She is very reassuring, obviously a great skill for someone dealing with kids who might be nervous at their first lesson. She is also very observant, and was quickly able to find a few mistakes that were happening in the song and help my daughter correct them quickly and play more confidently. I can heartily recommend her.
We did have a bit of a miscommunication initially as I thought we had signed up to come over other week, but Eleanor was expecting weekly lessons. In the event this wasn't a problem as I have another daughter who wants to learn and I had been thinking of getting her lessons anyway. It probably pays to be quite clear at the outset on lesson frequency, duration, and payment incl payment method, but that applies to learners and all tutors on the platform.
Not only are the lessons both professional and enjoyable she has also been accommodating with timings where she could be.
She also has great recommendations for inexpensive resources that I can work through independently facilitate and guide the lessons.
Really impressed with Eleanor so far and look forward to many more lessons together.
I presume she's an experienced and skilled tutor though.
