Hi there! I'm Eleanor. I have 10 years teaching experience. I love to perform, compose and produce music. I teach in-person & online and my students have 100% exam pass rate with Merit/Distinction. All ages and abilities welcome. Looking forward to hearing from you!
Tutoring Experience:
Prior to moving to Newcastle I taught for Kirklees Music Service for 5 years and sung in the famous Huddersfield Choral Society. I've also mentored A-Level Composition students and delivered many creative sound workshops involving home recording, homemade percussion, drawing sound and improvisation.

Tutoring Approach:
I enjoy an open and varied approach to teaching, exploring the student's potential through a range of styles and techniques to ensure a well-rounded musical education. I offer opportunities to compose music as well as perform a range of classical, musical theatre, popular, folk, jazz and rock styles. In addition to demonstrating and teaching technique, I offer discussion around the context of repertoire and style. For popular styles, I encourage exploration of the individual voice/expression - we all have our own unique instrument! :-)

EleanorFrom Becky (5/5): I currently have two piano lessons with Eleanor under my belt and they've both been great. I'm a complete beginner and not particularly quick to learn at this, but Eleanor has been extremely patient and kind with me. She's very personable and friendly and has provided two very well constructed lessons. She has adapted her teaching style very sympathetically to my learning preferences and has been able to make lessons appropriate for my ability - I'm very grateful for that. My lessons are online with me playing on an old electric keyboard… I will admit that I wasn't sure how well this might work before we began, but it's been ideal and fits in well with my busy schedule. Eleanor is clearly very experienced and the teaching is seamless. Not a minute is wasted and she carefully adjusts based on areas of competence or those that need more practice. If I do continue with lessons, I will definitely stay with Eleanor - highly recommend.

From Michael (/5): Eleanor is very professional but a very welcoming tutor who has patience and a brilliant approach to tutoring. I have only had 4 lessons but from each I have taken something away with me that I am able to practice at home. Eleanor is also very knowledgable and has answered every question that I have asked. I am always looking forward to our lessons and I leave each one with a feeling of accomplishment and confidence that I have improved

From Thomas (/5): Eleanor is a great piano teacher for my 10 year old daughter, who is continuing lessons after a move having started 2 years ago.
She is very reassuring, obviously a great skill for someone dealing with kids who might be nervous at their first lesson. She is also very observant, and was quickly able to find a few mistakes that were happening in the song and help my daughter correct them quickly and play more confidently. I can heartily recommend her.
We did have a bit of a miscommunication initially as I thought we had signed up to come over other week, but Eleanor was expecting weekly lessons. In the event this wasn't a problem as I have another daughter who wants to learn and I had been thinking of getting her lessons anyway. It probably pays to be quite clear at the outset on lesson frequency, duration, and payment incl payment method, but that applies to learners and all tutors on the platform.

From Louis (/5): Eleanor has been an absolutely fantastic tutor so far. After trying to teach myself and making slow to no progress she has helped identify my weak areas and I have already seen really encouraging progress, even over a relatively short time. She is always working at and just ahead of my level so that I am seeing that improvement.
Not only are the lessons both professional and enjoyable she has also been accommodating with timings where she could be.
She also has great recommendations for inexpensive resources that I can work through independently facilitate and guide the lessons.
Really impressed with Eleanor so far and look forward to many more lessons together.
