Personal Description:

I’m a professional musician and play piano, oboe and I sing. Growing up, I was lucky to have three excellent teachers, and I undoubtedly wouldn’t be doing what I love now without their guidance. I would love to inspire more people to enjoy music and to nurture every student’s different talents. I play oboe regularly with many of the UK’s top orchestras, including the LPO, Royal Opera House and BBC symphony orchestra.

Tutoring Experience:

I’ve been teaching for seven years now, and have taught total beginners up to post grade 8 students,
and a mix of adults and children. I have been lucky enough to experience some inspiring music teaching in my time and am passionate about passing this on to more people, in an engaging and fun way. I have my LRAM teaching Diploma from the Royal Academy of Music and have held the position of oboe teacher at Thomson House School.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is friendly and flexible, suiting my teaching style to my student, whilst maintaining high standards of technique and musicianship. For younger students, games to make scales and sight-reading more fun are effective, whilst adult students sometimes prefer a more academic approach. I am open and enthusiastic and like to create an environment in which the student feels creative and able to explore and take risks.
