I am a friendly and patient piano / guitar / bass / songwriting teacher who loves to share musical ideas ,discussion and discoveries with my students. The lessons will be catered to the style of your choice and at the pace that you choose. As well as showing you how to approach learning your favourite songs and pieces I also love to encourage creativity through improvisation and songwriting to any students who are also interested in being creative. I was trained at the Royal College Of Music where I studied the piano , guitar and composition and from there went on to be a sessions musician and songwriter. Music is still my first love so I look forward to impassioning my students with the gift of music.
I've had a great amount of experience teaching piano , songwriting and guitar to many students of all different levels and styles. Some students choose the songwriting option and eventually progress to learning about recording their own songs. Some prefer improvisation and some prefer to do exams. I have a 95% Distinction rate. I have been teaching in two distinguished private schools for 15 years as well as privately.
I offer a very relaxed and supportive approach to teaching of all ages . All the lessons will be designed specifically to your own musical needs and aspirations. As well as learning your favourite songs you can learn by ear or to read to do exams or to improvise and write your own songs. All aspects and styles are welcome as I believe everybody has their unique musical path.

I highly recommend Ed as a teacher, I have been having piano lessons with him for a while now and throughly enjoy every lesson. He is patient, enthusiastic and always caters specifically to my music needs. I started off not knowing how to play any piano and now know how to play some of my favourite songs in a very short amount of time. I always look forward to my lessons and absolutely love learning with Ed. I look forward to learning with him for years to come! Thank you Ed!

As a mature student I was nervous about learning a new instrument, I had no need to be. It's fantastic to finally learn how to write and play my favourite types of music. Thanks Ed… !

Music Composition Lessons

I have played guitar for a number of years and a little bit of keyboard too. I was completely self taught but was playing the same stuff and was feeling a bit stuck in a rut. I decided to get some piano/songwriting lessons and saw Ed’s ad online. Ed has been amazing, he has helped me learn how to compose songs and has given me the knowledge to express emotion through songwriting through a multitude of techniques. He has also really helped me improve my piano playing skills. I always thought of music theory as boring but I don't even realise that I am doing it with Ed because it is so practical and applies directly to what I am trying to achieve. Because Ed is a multi-instrumentalist he has helped me see how the theory and techniques I have learnt on piano can also be applied to my guitar playing. At the moment I am composing a song which we are going to record and produce together, which I am very excited about! Ed is very flexible, tailoring the lessons to what you want to do, but also offers guidance to help you get to where you want to be. Ed is an amazing teacher and can't recommend him higher!
