Personal Description:

As a long time musician, playing since the age of 7, I understand what it takes to enjoy and understand the movement of music. I began singing classically at the age of 13, undertaking many different styles, and allowing my expression to shine through whatever medium was chosen!

I have choir experience, opera training, and a very relatable approach to music as an art form/expression of human life. My guitar, bass and piano skills were all taught alongside singing in my early years, allowing me the ability to develop a craft of songwriting to its full potential.

I work as a performer and composer in many different areas and genres in London and beyond, with a comprehensive understanding of many musical styles.

Currently I am studying an MA in Ethnomusicology at Goldsmiths, sometimes colloquially known as anthropology of music. This informs my approach towards music and allows examination of the why, not simply the how.

Tutoring Experience:

My experience in teaching is predominantly with children aged 8-12, although I have provided musical mentoring and compositional help at a professional level alongside my role as head of an independent record label.

Tutoring Approach:

I regard music as a bountiful means to expression that people from all ages should have access to. The ethos I hold when teaching music is to regard yourself with the ability to create incredible art, regardless of the level of technique involved. The continued practice of your own expression eventually accentuates any abilities, and allows the process of skill development to be natural and enjoyable, as it should, instead of arduous and self-defeating.

I do not exist to tell you when to practice, or to hold you to account for the lack of doing so. People who perform music will only embrace its potential when they enjoy it completely, and through that enjoyment they will find the desire and commitment to improve.

I can mentor you in your approach towards music as a sublime art form, or I can run through techniques and practicalities that will build your skill. However, I will always maintain to keep the experience of music rewarding, thorough and highly interactive.
