Personal Description:
I am an Italian composer, conductor and pianist based in London. I have been living in the UK for 14 years, teaching privately, in high school and at University level. I am currently a lecturer at the Royal College of Music, the 1st Music Conservatoire in Europe and 2nd in the world.
I work in contemporary classic music, opera, films, theatre, crossover music as arranger, composer, performer, conductor and sometimes music producer.
My highlights include having been performed at the Barbican and having been sir Michael Caine's conducting coach on the film Youth (2015).
Tutoring Experience:
I have nearly 20 years of experience as private tutor, 6 as a lecturer at University/Conservatoire level and 8 in secondary school. I have taught composition, piano, music theory, orchestration, arranging to various students from various backgrounds, age, level. Fully confident with the ABRSM system both for theory and piano, I can also support students who wish to prepare their entrance to university, or need help with their GCSE/ALevel music courses, as well I am used to teach adults who are willing to learn music for their own enjoyment.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach varies from student to student according to their level, age and experience. I am always happy to create a relaxed and enjoyable environment during lessons, but I am always aiming to achieve the best possible results from students, hence when required I may be demanding. But if someone is willing to take lessons just as a hobby, then I make sure that they enjoy their time playing (or learning how to compose) making sure they always progress bit by bit.
For example if a young student is willing to learn the piano to eventually continue his/her studies at a Conservatoire, then I would be quite systematic, including techniques and scales exercises (other than pieces) in their routine, and I would make sure he/she understands the importance of being consistent and disciplined when learning an instrument.
