Personal Description:

I am a drummer and educator based in London. I have been featured on recordings and lin concerts across a variety of musical genres, working extensively across the UK, the United States, South Asia, and Europe.

I received a Bachelor's Degree (BMus) in Popular Music Performance from the University of West London in 2012 and was awarded a Master's Degree (MSc) in Performance Science from the Royal College of Music.

Tutoring Experience:

I am a private drum tutor with a Masters's in Performance Science from the Royal College of Music, a BMus degree in Popular Music Performance from the University of West London, and over 17 years of experience as a professional musician.

I have been teaching drums for over 9 years. My students range from beginners to intermediate and semi-pro levels, aged KS2 to adult. I have coached pupils through both Trinity and Trinity Rock & Pop Grades (Grades Initial through 7 so far), prepared them for auditions, concerts, exams, touring, etc.

As a teacher my goal is to use music and musical learning to positively impact my pupils' lives. Especially with my younger students, I see drum lessons as primarily a vehicle for them to acquire confidence in their own ability to learn, while also developing an appreciation for music. I strive to provide a good example (being on time and organised and having a positive and enthusiastic approach to learning), to encourage them to develop a broad musical taste and appreciation for music, and to help them develop healthy learning habits. Once students are past the initial learning stage, I encourage them to share what they have learned, be it in small performances in front of family and friends, or playing during a school assembly; the sense of relatedness that pupils get from those first performances can be a huge boost to their confidence and general wellbeing.

I teach over 30 pupils of different ages every week. I have an up-to-date enhanced DBS check and a Child Care Safeguarding Training Certificate.

Tutoring Approach:

The lesson plan can and will vary depending on the student's needs. However, important topics such as hand technique, posture, and coordination (i.e… the fundamentals) will invariably be addressed.

A typical lesson might consist of analysing a song chosen by myself or by the student, identifying the techniques required to perform the piece, and outlining an appropriate practice method.

Lessons can be in person or online, according to your preference.
