Personal Description:
Hello,
I'm a trumpeter based in Wandsworth who performs professionally and that travels to many areas of the city to teach trumpet and other brass students. I also teach for Wandsworth Music and work for the National Children's Orchestras GB as a tutor and pastoral staff. I'm friendly, encouraging and I really enjoy working with children and young people of all ages. I have an up to date DBS check that I can bring to our first meeting. I am happy to teach adults too, it's never too late to start!
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching private trumpet students since 2017 during my undergraduate degree. I have entered students before for ABRSM grade exams but also have taught students who prefer to keep things casual and fun without grades. I recently tutored for National Children's Orchestras summer courses for the first time after working with them as pastoral staff for 8 years. I also have invaluable experience working with all types of neurodiverse children including children with ADHD, autism, dyslexia and anxiety.
Tutoring Approach:
When teaching instrumental lessons, the most important thing for me in ensuring that the student is enjoying themselves, I believe the best way to learn an instrument is though enjoyment and curiosity. My teaching approach encompasses all aspects of growing as a musician as well as an instrumentalist. This means ensuring students learn the vital aural, theoretical and technical skills they need to become an accomplished musician without straying from the focus of the lessons: to have fun playing their instrument!
