Personal Description:
I am a piano and music tutor living in Basingstoke. I have been playing the piano and studying music for the best part of 28 years having started when I was 5 years old as I wanted to copy my eldest brother as he is also a pianist. Music is the cornerstone of my life with the vast array of feelings one singular piece of music can convey and has helped me through all the highs and lows I have experienced. As the great Igor Stravinsky remarked "I haven't understood a bar of music in my life, but I have felt it." A quote that has stuck with me throughout my musical career.
I am very approachable, friendly and have such a huge passion for all forms/genres of music that I am eager to pass on throughout your musical journey.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been tutoring for 12 years and have a 100% pass rate in both practical and music theory. Along with tutoring I have also been an accompanist for students in their exams. I have a full DBS check dated February 2020.
Tutoring Approach:
Whether you want to pass grade 8, be able to play Christmas songs for a sing along, learn your favourite piece or learn about a specific genre/composer, I will be there to guide you every step of the way. I teach with a smile and will always do so.
Regardless of how challenging it gets I will make you feel at ease, make it fun and get through it together with a smile and a laugh.
I will never make you feel rushed, uncomfortable or talk down to you. Your development through your musical career is of paramount importance to me. I will listen to your every need and concern and will work to the speed that most suits you to optimise the outcome you are aiming for.
