Personal Description:

David first began taking an active part in music during his youth when he took up the guitar and later the oboe. After a short amount of time, David started to perform in many local concerts in rock bands (guitar) and also in youth/semi professional orchestras (oboe), alongside this, he enjoyed composing in his spare time. At the age of 16, he was offered the position of oboe within the Royal Marines Band Service where he performed extensively throughout the UK and abroad including many high profile and State occasions, on many occasions a soloist. David also was lead guitarist in the function band whilst serving.

In 2014 it was time for him to move on from his much enjoyed time within the Royal Marines Band, and change his professional focus primarily on to orchestral and solo work. David has performed with many top orchestras in the UK including the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, he has also enjoyed numerous solo recital performances and solo appearances with orchestras, most recently with a performance of Mozart Oboe Concerto in C.

In his Spare time, David has always enjoyed the challenge of teaching and nurturing other musicians alongside composition work.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught musicians on a range of instruments since 2008, varying from beginner to advanced musicians. My speciality is woodwind instruments.

Tutoring Approach:

In my experience in music and in life so far, it has become very clear to me that everybody has a different way of learning different aspects of a subject, especially in music which has so many aspects. Having spent much time analysing different teaching, practise methods and performance techniques I always tailor my teaching methods to benefit the student personal needs and goals rather than using a 'one size fits all' approach.
