Information About David - Banstead teacher

Personal Description:

I am a full time drum tutor, playing both acoustic and electronic drums regularly for the last 25 years, and more casually for some time before that. I have my own fully equipped studio in Banstead with cd/mp3/dvd playback facilities and 2 side by side drum kits as well as large Audio-visual teaching screen.
As well as full time teaching in schools and home studio,I play in a 10 piece Soul Band and a 5 piece Function Band.
I am a Musicians Union Member with Piblic Liability Insurance ,a DBS cert and have completed a Safeguarding coursewith Edusafe.

Tutoring Experience:

I teach both Drumsense and Rockshool syllabus, but am also happy to teach those who are not interested in Grades but wish to get the most enjoyment from their drumset.
I teach in 2 state secondary schools over the last 10 years and have given home studio tuition for 20 years.
I have tutored 7 students through to Grade 8 with the last 2 in 2024 achieving Distinction. I have 2 others about to take Grade 8, one of whom reached 2024 National Top 40 Young Drummer of the Year

Tutoring Approach:

As indicated above, I tailor my teaching to the individual student ,so they can improve both co-ordination and independance in order to realise their maximum potential. For young students I aim to make the lessons fun and enjoyable whilst following a structured programme that includes reading music and plenty of playalongs.
