Personal Description:
Played banjo professionally for over 30 years in every situation; solo, jazz quartet/trio/band, orchestral. I also teach jazz appreciation.
Tutoring Experience:
taught for over 30 years privately and in class situations for London Boroughs and colleges including annually at Benslow Music Trust.
Tutoring Approach:
My approch is to train the student correct ways to sit and hold the instrument, to lean to read music and chord symbols, improvise and play rhythm in jazz, self-accompanying and jazz styles and eventually play his own arrangements from lead-line and chord symbol. Correct technique for life, phrasing and musicality will always be considered.
