Personal Description:

Hi!

I'm a Graduate of Nottingham Trent University with a BA Honours Degree in Sonic Arts. I also work as a performing musician with over ten years of experience, playing in various bands (ranging from Rock, Folk, Indie to Reggae/Ska & Funk).

My experience as a performing musician has given me the confidence to project myself in front of an audience. This also comes with a technical knowledge that is accrued through years of playing different styles of music and knowing how to set up and use the equipment required to deliver a good quality sound for live performance.

Enhanced DBS checked valid from January
2018-19

Musicians Union Member w/public liability

Officially registered Self-employed

Tutoring Experience:

I began teaching on a casual basis back in 2013 in Nottingham but since I moved to London in August 2015 I became a self employed musician and Guitar teacher. I mainly teach on a private basis 1-1, though group sessions can also be catered for as I have worked in schools and for various agencies including:

Bruce Music
Loughton Academy
The Strings Club
London Music Factory
Music House For Children
NCS The Challenge

Though my main instrument is guitar, I also can offer tuition on,

Bass Guitar
Ukelele

Tutoring Approach:

I feel my that experience fronting / playing guitar in bands and people skills as a primarily self-taught musician are my greatest asset in motivating people to learn.
My approach is to teach practical elements of the instrument first, through showing them new chords, riffs and scales to increase their musical vocabulary, then gradually introducing listening and theory elements, as well as exploring different styles of music to keep the student engaged.
But ultimately it should be about enjoying yourself so my lessons are delivered in a relaxed tone, teaching the student either what THEY want to learn or what will benefit their musical passage as they progress.
