This is how 3 referees rated Claire:
I am originally from Aberdeenshire but have resided in Glasgow for 18 years. I graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2004 with a BA Scottish Music degree. I have been playing since the age of 5.
I teach privately, at The Cowal Fiddle Workshop, tutor for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland outreach projects, and I am the author of a violin tutor book
I am currently enjoying playing with several bands on the Scottish Dance Band scene.
I am a Niel Gow Scottish Fiddle Awards 2017 finalist.
I have over 15 years teaching experience: both privately and employed as a music tutor be the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland musicworks projects, teaching Violin, Viola, Scottish Fiddle, Musicianship & Groupwork.
Private lessons are tailored to suit individual needs ; many of my pupils choose to sit ABRSM exams, gaining merit & distinction grades; many choose to learn to improve their technique and repertoire, some compete in music competitions.
I have pupils of all ages, backgrounds and needs.
Everyone is a different and learns differently. I teach pupils to read music, or if the prefer can be taught by ear. I'm pretty easy going and adaptive so we can usually find an approach to work for each individual.
I find learning successfully usually occurs if pupils are enjoying it. I try to find repertoire to suit each person.
Daily practise is recommended.
