Awarded an MBE in the 2020 New Years Honours List. Chief Examiner of a recognized London Music exam board. Claire is a composer and performer and has written her own published Tutor books in Keyboard and Piano playing and also in singing. An accomplished player in many instruments including piano, flute, clarinet, recorder, vocals, violin and music theory. Has three additional teachers working at her Music School who also offer lessons on Guitar, Trombone and Ukulele.
Tutoring Experience:
Has taught, performed, examined and composed music for over 25 years in a variety of places in the UK and abroad including Sri Lanka, Malta, Ireland and Jersey.

All ages and abilities welcome.
Offers a no gimmick approach to music tuition in a caring and comfortable environment. Lessons are geared to own pupil's personal preferences and needs.
Lessons available in own music studio with a waiting room and full toilet facilities.
Also offers music lessons in violin and music theory.
Lessons are supported with free online theory tuition (pupils will receive the link as part of their lessons).
Discount lessons offered for bulk payment only £15 per half hour (normal price for lessons is £16.00 per half hour).

From Karol (/5): The lesson did not start on time but finished exactly 30min since it's supposed to start but still had to pay for exactly half an hour. The funky smell in the building is unbearable. The tutor has been okay although did not present any structured approach for future lessons.

The fact that it's the first complaint after 20 years means only that people are too kind to speak out, and not that everything is fine. Instead of kindly accepting the feedback and promising to improve, you trying to convince other people now that it's me who is the problem here. I'm sure you do quality music teaching but the first impression was not great. That's all.

Reply from: Claire: Hi Karol we take all feedback both positive and negative seriously. The 'funky smell' was caused because the carpets had been professionally cleaned that morning. We take the risks from Covid very seriously and the house is made safe to protect all pupils including disinfecting all surfaces regularly which does leave a good clean 'funky' smell. Lesson slots do run exactly to time and this was confirmed by analysis of the CCTV camera images which identified the customer entering the house at 19.02. A payment was recorded on the credit card machine at 19.33 and customer was also recorded leaving the house at 19.34. In a private message off this site the pupil confirmed that the beginning of the lesson involved talking and not playing and the pupil expected to play straight away. On a first lesson, teachers do need to talk and make a full assessment of the pupil's wants and needs which does involve talking. This will help both teacher and pupil develop together in all future lessons.

I just supposed to contact with the operator of this site because it took a little longer to get a contact with you than I had expected. I didn't expect my comment would be posted here. Evrything has been resolved now and I am just looking forward to our first lesson.

From David (/5): Claire is a very kind person and, from the moment you meet her, she puts you completely at ease. She is extremely knowledgeable in all things musical and is supremely confident, clearly borne from experience. She has given me, a relatively poor singer and complete novice to singing in a choir, sufficient confidence within a matter of six weeks to sing in the bass section of a very experienced 90 strong choir ( 15 different songs in a high profile Minster venue)
Without Claire, this would have been an impossible task. I am indebted to her for opening up new horizons, enabling me to share the joyous feelings that singing brings to many.

From Amberlea (/5): Claire is an incredibly talented musician. I am very fortunate to have her as my tutor. I have progressed hugely within the last 6 months and i am already preparing for my grade 1 exam. She is so so patient and helps to encourage me when im struggling. Her tuition is priceless and i would definitely recommend her to any one wishing to learn any instrument. If you wish to learn for pleasure or for exams shes one of the best around. Im so glad i found her online. She has very kindly sourced lots of good music books for me to further my abilities. If you wish to learn in a relaxed environment and be challenged then this is the tutor for you. She makes learning as an adult really fun and keeps me motivated to do lots of practice during the week. upon hearing the younger students she teaches playing after my lesson i was really driven to improve my skills. They were absolutely fantastic. I wish i had started playing my flute years ago!
