Personal Description:
Chun-He Yu began studying the piano in Taiwan from the age of 4 and has since gone to achieve his Bachelor and master’s degrees in Solo Piano Performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal College of Music in London respectively.
A versatile pianist, Chun has worked across the world as both an instructor and a performing artist, working closely with the likes of Roberto Plano, Norma Fisher, Colin Stone, and Ilya Kondratiev. He has performed at venues and festivals across Europe including the International Music Festival Citta di Cicidale Friuli, Vivace Vilnius Festival and the Schumann Project, Bradshaw Hall, Birmingham.
As a teacher, Chun has instructed Junior Department Students at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, taken part in the Art of Piano Teaching electives as part of his master’s degree at the Royal College of Music, and worked privately with students of all ages across Birmingham and London to help pass ABRSM and Trinity grade exams and personal milestones. He considers instruction to be part and parcel of his life as a soloist, allowing both to feed each other as he develops his career.
He also enjoys chamber music, performing the Schumann Piano Quintet with colleagues on tour in 2019, and enjoys exploring other genres of music, such as jazz and classical fusion. He enjoys working with others and continues to make that a big part of music going forward, both as a chamber musician and instructor.
Tutoring Experience:
I used to work in a music organization from 2014-2015 in Taiwan; at the time, I had been teaching many beginners from age 7 to 15. In the UK, I have been helping students pass the ABRSM grades exam. Apart from an exam, I am also like to inspire students to enjoy instrumental playing.
Tutoring Approach:
I fully understand how difficult to start to learn an instrument, especially to learn the piano. As a beginner, he needs to learn how to develop musicianship and practice do different things simultaneously with his ten fingers. So, to be a music teacher, it is essential to be passionate and engage people's interests and try to be inspiring.
