Information About Christopher - King's Lynn teacher

Personal Description:

I'm an established drum and percussion teacher and player with over 30 years of experience. I teach from a purpose-built drum studio near the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. I teach drums using two kits side by side and using microphone and headphones for instruction and music playback. I am an experienced performing professional in popular, rock and classical music and I play drums, orchestral percussion and tuned percussion (all of which I have in my studio).

I love drumming. I play a lot of instruments but only teach drums because of the amount of fun it is.

Tutoring Experience:

I've taught drums for 30 years and keep up to date with drumming styles including Rock and Gospelchops. I am a fully trained and qualified teacher with up to date qualifications. I am a University Lecturer in Music and I have have experience and success in working with students with learning issues including autism, dyslexia and ADS. Lessons are fun and very rewarding.

I do work with students to prepare for Graded Exams (usually Trinity Guildhall) and to prepare for College and University applications. I prepare students for the theory parts of grades and, if you want to torture yourself, I do teach theory.

I am an experienced and published composer and a professional conductor and offer tuition in conducting.

Tutoring Approach:

I will find the way that you learn. Whichever way you learn best, we'll get to it. Everyone can play to a track by the end of the first lesson. Whether you learn best by watching and copying, listening and repeating or counting and doing … we'll make it work out between us. Learning is a partnership ! It's a very positive and gentle approach to making music.

I have a background in CBT and NLP which I have researched as part of my post-graduate work. I find this essential when teaching.
