Personal Description:
As a teacher, I believe in catering lessons to the student. Whether starting from scratch or developing existing technique, I still work to make lessons fun while helping people improve. I have: given private and group lessons, run projects to help underprivileged children, taught at the Kodaly Institute in Hungary, The Sage Gateshed and taught at many festivals around the world. Having been tutored by a number of talented musicians such as Catriona MacDonald (Blazin’ Fiddles) , Chris Newman and Stuart Hardy. I possess an intricate knowledge of my instruments to compliment an innate talent for passing it on.
Tutoring Experience:
10 years 1 to 1 teaching experience
Nowte se Stange as folk (Educational program in the North East) for 2 years
Live Music Now for 6 years providing musical workshops, interactive performances and managing and executing short term projects.
Teaching at the Sage Gateshead as part of folk works educational program.
I developed my own online tuition platform from scratch long before 2019, and have developed a unique still for online lessons.
Tutoring Approach:
Music tutors should inspire. If you don't feel inspired to practice you then I am not doing my job properly! I teach predominantly by ear but provide recordings and notation to material learnt in lessons. I tailor a lot of exercises to help pupils develop quickly in areas they tend to struggle. I use telegram for all materials sent and either Jitsi or zoom for the lessons. All of the £10 lessons are online group sessions and consist of:
Warm up (usually play with me - the piece or section we worked on last)
Discuss, notation, tab, fingering or theory required
Repetition of section with specific focus points
Discussion about support materials required
I run a student ceilidh band which students are paid for performing in and free group composition classes once a month.

I mean, I like the guy & he's trying to teach me how to play. How can I be rude about someone under those circumstances?
It was only ever going to be a full score & I stand by it, but seeing as I'm not yet Jimi Hendrix, how reliable is anything I have to say here?
I like him, I think you will too
I like his style of teaching which is thorough and combines theory and practice.
