Information About Chris - Exeter teacher

Personal Description:

I have played the piano for nearly sixty years, though only recently did what I should have done 40 years ago, and passed my Grade VIII exam. I love playing classical pieces by Beethoven, Mozart and Chopin, as well as Jazz standards and accompanying myself sing. I play regularly for Church services, and do the occasional gig. Music has given me a fantastic career, and I love trying to encourage people of all ages to get involved in learning more about it.

Tutoring Experience:

I taught full-time for almost 34 years as a Head of Music, within mainly UK State secondary schools and this included times of teaching some one-to-one lessons, on piano and keyboard. I stopped teaching at the start of the pandemic, and have recently missed it, leading to me doing a little bit of private tuition. During my career, I led various choirs and music ensembles and acted as Musical Director for musical productions, concerts and carol services - in other words, I did all the extra-curricular parts of the job - the fun bits! I taught a lot of GCSE Music and some A level too.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is for learning to be fun, though at the same time, recognising the undeniable fact, that significant progress can only be made via sustained hard work, through much regular practice.
