Personal Description:

Hello music lovers!

My name is Chris, and I am a professional musician and guitar teacher with over 20 years of playing experience and 15 years working in the industry.

I earned a BA (Hons) Degree in Professional Music Performance, specializing in guitar, from The Academy of Contemporary Music in 2012. My career has taken me to luxury venues around the world, where I've gained extensive experience in all facets of music, including performing, recording, composing, lyric writing, rehearsing, and teaching. I am now eager to share the skills and knowledge I've honed.

I have a particular passion for writing and performing original music. You can hear some of my recent guitar work on MARISA AND THE MOTHS's debut album and my solo project, SHARDS OF VERITY, where I performed all instruments and vocals. Currently, I am performing with guitar sensation Sophie Lloyd. All music is available on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, iTunes, and other platforms.

I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate and am a registered tutor with firsttutors.com.

Tutoring Experience:

I have extensive experience working with The Rock Project, where I taught guitar, band performance, and music theory to all age groups. My teaching ranges from one-on-one sessions to groups of six and workshops of 30 or more. I focus on teaching a "song of the week," incorporating the necessary technical and musical theory aspects, and provide in-depth knowledge on executing these techniques in a live setting to create a captivating performance.

My expertise covers all genres, from blues to metal and everything in between. I simplify theory and technique, delivering it in a manageable, engaging, and enjoyable way. Whether you are a beginner picking up a guitar for the first time, aiming to learn your first acoustic three-chord song, or a seasoned professional looking to enhance your theory and technique, I can help you advance your playing.

I take a fun and friendly approach to teaching guitar. While knowledge and experience are essential, I believe conveying information in a way that keeps students entertained and passionate is equally important. I am a strong believer in making the art of music exciting to learn, as enjoyment is often our primary motivation for pursuing it.

My lessons are tailored to suit your individual abilities and aspirations, always maintaining a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere. I encourage you to dictate the direction of your lessons, as this approach keeps you motivated and engaged with topics that genuinely interest you. However, if you prefer a more structured path, I also offer a comprehensive course for guided learning.
