Hi, I'm Chris, a professional guitar tutor based in Leeds.
If you want to learn your favourite songs, develop your technique, improve your understanding of music theory or write your own songs – I can help you. Whether you’re a complete beginner, or you’ve been playing for years, I’ll design a course of study that’s just right for you.
I've been teaching full-time since 2014. I've taught thousands of guitar lessons over the years, from absolute beginners who just want to strum a few chords, to more experienced players who need some theory knowledge to enhance their skills. I specialise in teaching Alternative Rock styles, but my students are free to learn a wide variety of genres. I also teach practical ear training, which enables students to learn songs faster, and translate their creative ideas straight to the strings.
I have a separate programme specifically designed for children, which makes learning guitar easy, fun, and engaging.
My lessons are structured with proven step-by-step courses I've developed through years of testing. I know your time is precious, so you won't find me casually asking "So, what shall we do today?". You'll always know where you're at, and what you need to do next.
I am a professional RGT registered tutor, I am fully DBS checked, and I have a BA (Hons) in Popular Music. I’ve been playing, performing, writing and recording music for over 19 years. I teach one-to-one lessons, small group lessons, skype lessons, and children's rock school band sessions.
I develop my lesson plans based on the personal interests of individual students. Most commonly I take a song-based approach, while exploring the ingredients of music. This gives the student a well-rounded experience and deeper understanding of music.
No matter what your age or skill level, you'll learn guitar in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. My approach to teaching has been described by my students as ‘constructive and engaging’, ‘really motivating’, 'clear and easy to practice from at home’, and ‘really friendly and patient’.
