Personal Description:

I am a passionate and dedicated low brass musician and educator based in Edinburgh, with over 10 years of experience in the field. Specializing in brass band instruments, primarily euphonium, I have performed in some of the premier concert halls in the UK and Europe as part of various ensembles, ranging from symphony orchestras to some of the top brass bands in the UK. As a soloist, I have staged a number of solo recitals, including the opening concert of the 2019 Fringe of Gold Brass Festival in St. Andrews, as well as being called on to give the Scottish Premiere of Paul Mealor's Euphonium Concerto in 2019 with the University of St Andrews Symphony Orchestra. I have also staged full-length evening concerts, such as my “Euphonic explorations: music across eras” recital in November 2023. Since 2016, I have held the position of principal Euphonium of The Cooperation Band in Glasgow, the most successful brass band in Scottish history. I have also worked with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) as an extra musician. Through years of dedication and collaboration with top brass musicians, I have been fortunate enough to cultivate a strong musicianship that reflects my commitment to the field.

Tutoring Experience:

My teaching experience ranges from private tuition in English literature and French, to providing one-off consultations, and regular private brass tuition. I was also fortunate enough to provide a pedagogical masterclass for the Scottish Brass Band Association's 2023 Learning and Development Festival.

As an educator, I am wholly committed to providing personalised, engaging, and enjoyable tuition that caters to each student's unique learning style and musical interests. Emphasizing both the technical and interpretive aspects of performance, I will ensure that these fundamental components are integrated into my lessons. By combining essential technical work, ear training, and performance techniques, I help students develop a strong foundation in brass playing and overall musicianship.
