Personal Description:

I have been playing music my whole life, it has been my passion since I was a small boy hitting pots and pans in the living at my mum's house (something i still do and would encourage any up and coming drummer to do!) and I've been extremely lucky to follow my dream and make a career out of it, as a drummer in various bands, my solo project and passing on my experience as a teacher. My main musical accomplishments have been making and releasing a solo EP on a Birmingham based label CCT Records under my solo project "Sidecar Swampy" aswell as a UK Tour with a prog-rock band "Alright The Captain." I have a hugely varied taste in music and can play and teach any drumming style to a high standard, from big band jazz, ska, reggae to punk, rock, metal and hip hop. I have my own kit which I use to teach from home, unfortunately I don't drive so if you are interested in acquiring my services you would have to get to my house just outside of Melton Mowbray, the trip will be hugely worthwhile for drummers of all backgrounds, musical tastes and experience as I can offer an exciting and enriching drumming experience! I am also in the process of building a home studio so over the coming months will be able to branch out into teaching with electronic drums (Roland TD9's) and will also be able to pass on my knowledge of using musical programmes (Logic Pro, Cubase SX) and equipment such as drum machines, 4 tracks and loop pedals. For now the focus is on getting as many people as possible learning new drumming skills, and setting them on their way to a successful music career.

Tutoring Experience:

I've taught loads of people from school friends, work colleagues, friends of family over the years and I have gained a reputation of being an excellent teacher who listens to the students needs and passes on my knowledge to help individuals become as good a drummer as they can be. I can always take time to teach more people so just get in touch if interested!

Tutoring Approach:

The most important thing when meeting a new student is to get to know them on a personal level, their background with drums, knowledge and drumming standard. This gives me a good idea on how to draw up lessons plans for that person and how best to teach them so they can get the most of the sessions. Finding out about their music needs, preffered genres/ styles makes it easier for me to give them the lessons that will help make them better drummers! With a beginner I was alays start with the basics of rhythm, timing, counting and playing a basic 4/4 beat until gradually they are confident to try more advanced techniques, to a click track if requested or along to one of their favourite tracks. This is the way I was taught and continue to teach myself. Drum music is available if needed, I'm happy to write out drum lessons on music manuscript paper, completely down to the individual. I am a patient, laid back person and very good at catering for individual needs!
