Information About Chris - Leeds teacher

Personal Description:

I am a professional bass guitarist and double bassist from Leeds. I have a degree in Jazz music from Leeds Conservatoire and play all kinds of music from Electronica to Metal to Traditional Jazz. I regularly play in venues across the UK and have performed at large music festivals such as Manchester Jazz Festival and Bloodstock Open Air.

I have been teaching music privately for the past 3 years.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor I find it is extremely important to tailor my teaching style to each student individually. I tend to focus mainly on the music that the student wants to play the most as well as suggesting new music to learn and listen to, to help the student expand their knowledge as a whole. I have taught pure music theory as well as theory in application to bass guitar and double bass. In teaching theory I find that a basic knowledge of the fundamental concepts found in Jazz can really help a student to have a deepen their understanding of how music theory works when applied to other genres. As an instrumental teacher I like to teach my students song based on their abilities, finding music for them that i know they will push them to improve theor technique and understanding of theor instrument.
