Personal Description:

Learning to play the violin is a wonderful challenge! I am a graduate of the RNCM and a member of the Manchester Camerata and Opera North orchestras. I have taught many private students and offer one to one violin lessons from my home in Bredbury, Stockport. At the moment zoom lessons are also possible in the name of social distancing!

I am a friendly and enthusiastic teacher and whether you want to study for exams or play for fun I will tailor my teaching to your preferences. The main thing is to find the love and enjoyment in music making!

I have a busy career working with Opera North and Manchester Camerata as well working freelance with other local orchestras such as the Halle and Northern Chamber Orchestra. I have education experience as a practice assistant at Chetham's School of Music and playing in quartets for education outreach projects with Live Music Now. I have also taught violin for Sefton Music Service and Hampshire Music Service and have worked with the BBC Philharmonic and Manchester Camerata outreach and education departments.

Tutoring Experience:

Many years of private teaching experience and well as previous practice assistant job at Chethams School of Music and violin teaching jobs with Sefton Music Service and Hampshire Music Service, prior to my orchestral jobs.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning to play the violin is a wonderful challenge! I will tailor my teaching approach to you as it depends on what you want to get out of the lessons. We can take a traditional approach and study for ABRSM grades or we can learn your favourite pieces for fun! I am a patient and friendly teacher and always have the pupil's best interests and enjoyment of music at the centre of my teaching. I will teach you some music theory as we learn and can also prepare you for music theory exams should you wish.
