Information About Catherine - Sale teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Catherine:
I am an experienced musician and have a BA (Hons) degree in Music. I've played woodwind, piano and sung for many years and am passionate about sharing my experience and love of music as a teacher. I've studied to degree level, and have always participated in ensembles as well as enjoying solo performance. I'm happy to offer exam tuition or just for enjoyment, and can do basic music theory as well.
I've done ad hoc teaching alongside running a full time career in Events Management. I do it for the pleasure of teaching! I've run workshops in singing and music in schools (KS2 and KS3) for a number of years and have worked with students aged 5-55. A taster session is the best way to kick off. It's as much about the time that you can put in between lessons practising your new found skills as it is the time we have together, so this taster session can give us both a feel for whether we are the right match!
I don't use a specific approach, I try to get a feel for how you like to learn. Some students prefer to learn by ear, I was taught through learning notation (reading music) so would always offer a basic music theory alongside the playing. Lessons would comprise a mixture of exercises, pieces and duets / accompanied pieces and even a bit of listening practice if appropriate. I think that the best way to learn and progress is to have as wide a repertoire as possible.
